Be Kind and Generous

“God, help me to be kind and generous.” This is my prayer each time I drive to a date. I feel like if I can be just these two things to the man that I am about to meet then I will have a decent time and potentially enjoy myself. So, I pray it over and over again in the car, as if God doesn’t hear me the first time or more importantly as if I am trying to drill into my mind the attitude in which I need to have as I sit and sip my coffee sitting across from some guy going on and on about his life.

“God, may he be kind and generous.” This is also what I expect of my date. It doesn’t take much to impress me. So long as he is kind - speaks well of others, treats the wait staff and me with respect, does not criticize and is generally polite - I will get along with him. If he goes the next step and is generous - not just with his money in buying my coffee, but with his words, his emotions, his life story - it really pulls me in. If you can be anything at all, be kind and generous.
