Looking Forward

Top 5 things I'm looking forward to (in no particular order):

1 - Being an aunt! My brother and sister-in-law will be having a little girl in April. Of all my friends having babies, this is the one I'm most excited about. They are calling her Elinor (not exactly sure how they may spell it), but I want to call her Ellie. My plan is to jump on a plane down to ATL as soon as they know she's coming. It will be hard to be so far away as she grows and develops into a young lady.

2 - Selling my car. Since November I have had the burden of my old car. I knew when I didn't trade it in, but opted to sell it myself, that it would be a difficult task. But I thought surely by March someone would have bought it. A few people have looked at it and considered it. I lowered the price and had my mechanic do another check over. It's a great car, too good to be sitting in my driveway for much longer.

3 - Taking a vacation. It has been a while since I packed my bags for a trip that didn't involve staying at my parents' house, sleeping in a YL camp bunk bed, attending a friends' wedding or a meeting related to business/ministry. I miss the days of getting a way for a whole week to do nothing but bask in the sun, see the sights, or take in the different culture. I use to have these amazing "travel buddies." We took advantage of our single life and booked our flights to places such as Jamaica, Montana, Chicago, and New York City. Currently, if I wanted to take a trip and had the financial resources to do it, I'm afraid that I might be traveling alone.

4 - Having a "significant other." I remember hearing this term and thinking how silly it sounded. At that time in my life, I had several close friends that cared for me and I felt like I played a significant role in their lives. I also had plenty of other activities to keep me preoccupied. But those days are long past and now I sit at home most Saturday evenings with the romantic thought of curling up next to someone (other than my dog). Someone who makes me feel like I'm the only one in the whole world. Someone that I can't wait to spend time with each day and do things for every second that I can. He's a dream...that I wonder will ever come true.

5 - Writing a book. It is amazing to me when I consider that others much younger that I have written and published incredible novels and helpful guidebooks on life. Long has been my desire to write such a book about living as a child of God. I'm not sure what the exact content would be, but it would be interesting, heart-warming, and funny. It would include personal experiences, as well as, stories of courageous people with whom I have had the privilege of sharing life. Perhaps I haven't begun to write my book because the best chapters are yet to be lived out.
