Wanting

I've been wanting lately. Wanting things that seem so far away. Wanting possessions others have obtained. Wanting what is way beyond my reach at this time in my life. As I consider all my wants, I am at times depressed as the possibility of living my entire life with these desires unfulfilled hits my heart. A few of the wants are simply on hold; waiting for the right living conditions, enough money, and a miracle of God. I know what must be done with these wants. I must surrender them - ask the Lord to give me patience and focus on what I do have. I'm just not sure how it will all work out or why my wants seem to be consuming me lately. There are certainly more pressing issues in the lives of friends and family close to me. I'm not fighting with my parents, nor slandered by my co-workers, nor living on park benches with very few friends. I am blessed, yet I want more. This is the struggle of life...of my life. To be content whether in need or in plenty - this has to be my goal. There is so much in our world that I already have, yet so much more to possess. Why must I want more?

Hopefully a weekend away will fill my heart and allow me to lay down my wants into the hands of a loving God, who not only knows my wants and needs, but is able, by his grace, to fulfill every one according to his purpose and for his glory!

  1. Preach it! This is a message that I needed to hear, and more importantly need to heed.

  2. Sarah,
I hope you don't feel like you are alone in this. It seems that everyone wants what everyone else has. I don't think that ever goes away. The goal is to find a way to NOT let it consume you. If I figure out the secret, I'll let you know. Love you girl!

  3. Sarah,
Everyone has wants and desires. Of everything you've mentioned in your blog, you can see that you know where to take them.

God is so good at easing restless thoughts. When the thoughts come to my mind, I write them down and then pray.

Consuming wants can be filtered thru His hands -
Peace will come - I love ya!
