Dry

I wish that I could say that my plant does not reflect any aspect of my life, but unfortunately, it illustrates all too well what I feel like in my spirit. This plant is nearly dead. (I lack my mother's green thumb.) I can't bring myself to toss it out. I try to remember to give it water and I've cut off most of the dead leaves. I am holding out hope of some revival. In the same way, I am holding out hope that my life will be renewed and my spirit will thrive again soon.

How long must I wait? The Texas summer has dried out my spirit. Some people may call this spiritual dryness a "wilderness time." As in the wilderness there are some signs of life but you have to look closely to notice. While I was in New York I saw some of those signs. I know what I must do. I know to keep holding onto Christ. I know that I must continue to be faithful to the One who has promised His faithfulness to me. I know that Jesus offers the living water. Oh, how I long for that Living Water that quenches any thirst!
