Worth the View
"The view will be worth it!," the hikers going down the mountain told us as we labored exhaustively to climb the steep trail. In my mind, I knew that would be true, but my body doubted. I was in so much pain and just wanted to quit. How could a simple view be worth the ache in my legs or the pain in my feet?
But I had come this far. Only half a mile more and then we would see for ourselves the majestic view. So we climbed on.
Once we reached the top, it certainly was a beautiful site - for more reasons than one. We could see for hundreds of miles in every direction. It was breathtaking - in a good way.
Life is like that climb. Sometimes we endure hardships and pain to see something really beautiful and special in our lives. It is worth it. Keep climbing, my friends.

I would not think I could learn,
ReplyDeleteI could not believe it true,
but feel the pain and feel the burn,
and know that cancer's worth the view.
Know you have the worst of fates,
know that you'll slowly succumb
to the monster that awaits,
but you need not be scared and numb,
for every moment's now a gift,
every hour is a boon,
every second breathes a lift
not of midnight, but of noon,
and this is how a Christian dies
with bright sunshine in his eyes.
It's a good reminder that the view is worth the stress. Thanks for sharing. Kath, your FMF neighbour at #18 this week.
ReplyDeleteIs that a photo you took of the view? It is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is one of the photos I took. It really was beautiful.
DeleteThe climb and adventure may be a struggle and tough; but, it's often so worth it in the end.

It's much easier to go down a hill than up it, but the views are so much better from the top!
