Major Purchases
For the past few years I haven't received any "real" presents for Christmas from my parents. They give me a check in a nice, thoughtful card. I sign the back, deposit it, and it disappears into my bank account. I hate to think of it going to pay bills, but most likely it has, but not this year! I used it and more to buy some needed items and splurge on others.
One of the most important items was a mattress set. The one I had been sleeping on was 8 years old when I
bought it used from some guy moving to Europe to be with his girlfriend and that was 4.5 years ago. I downsized to a full and now Titus and I are having to adjust to less room each night. He's kind of a bed-hog!
The same day I paid for my mattress, I found a new printer that I'd had my eye on. Just
like my bed, my old one is way old (at least 7 years old), at least in technology years. I'm looking forward to using it soon. I can't replace my old one until I have used up the ink that I just replaced in it.
The next purchase was a down parka from EB. It has been very cold here in New England (duh!) and while I like my ski jacket, it's rather bulky and only comes to my waist. I found a great parka on sale but it only came in 'Lipstick Red.' I love it! Here it is in plum.
My most recent purchase has been a pair of rain boots. They have been ordered from REI and should be in next Friday. Hopefully it won't rain too much or the snow melt away before then. I can't believe I've survived without these boots.
I have spent my Christmas money and more, but there are still a few more items on my wishlist. Among them are a bed (headboard and maybe footboard), Uggs, and a dog bed for Titus. These items may have to wait until birthday money becomes available. An upside to all this spending (other than the great items), is that my credit card has lots of rewards points just waiting for me to cash them in for a cruise to Burmuda! Therefore, here my cry: Charge! Charge! Charge!
