Fall Happenings
Five ways that I have spent my time this season:
1 - At least twice a week, I play in the park with my new "little sister." She likes to push me on the tire swing because I scream and get rather sick as it spins around and around. We also go to Starbucks where she sits, drinking a cold Frappuccino while I drink something hot (such as a Caramel Apple Cider) and read a book.
2 - Drive anywhere in New England right now and you will see trees that have leaves changing colors - even on my street. This is most commonly referred to as "Leaf Peeping," but some of my friends think that sounds rather creepy. The truth is, the changing of the leaves this year has been amazing! I thought the North GA mountains had a lot of color this time of year. I can't put into words the brilliance of the orange, red, and yellow foliage that I saw as I drove to and from Manchester, NH this past Tuesday. If I were to take pictures and post them here, it still would not capture their beauty!
3 - Last Friday I road on a bus for eight hours (4 each way). It was worth it to see some of my favorite people and spend the day in the fab city of New York. We walked around Times Square, took a carriage ride through Central Park, ate a late lunch at Serendipity, then watched the sunset atop the Empire State Building. It was all to celebrate Anna's 21st birthday!
4 - One of the most delightful ways to enjoy the Fall is to go to an apple orchard and pick your own apples right from the tree. Last Saturday, a large group from the church visited Honey Pot Hill Orchards. The sky was clear, the air was cool, the sun was bright, the apples were ripe, the hayride was bumpy, and the apple cider donuts were delicious!
5 - My roommates have discovered my hobby (or perhaps, habit) of baking. This time of year, when the weather is turning chilly, the oven some how calls to me and invites me to mix up something warm that smells delectable and tastes scrumptious. A few things I've made recently are Lemon Blueberry Diamonds, Chocolate Chunk Scones, Blueberry Cobbler and of course, more than one Apple Crisp! Next on the list is Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies. Yummy!
