MA RMV
Today was the day! I had put it off long enough. I'm not sure what I have been waiting for, but the wait is over. I can check this off my list of things to do. With every sort of document needed (passport, SS card, birth certificate, lease, etc.), I drove to the Massachusetts Registration of Motor Vehicles in Melrose. The wait was minimal, the lady behind the desk expressionless as she asked for each proof of existence, the eye test was harmless, and my picture turned out decent. In big print at the bottom of the yellow form it stated, "Out of state license must be surrendered upon converting to Massachusetts license." I stared at my GA license before handing it over. My picture of when I was 23 stared back at me (GA didn't require that I have a new picture taken when I renewed it). I have always had a Georgia peach on my license and it was difficult to let it go. What am I doing here - so far from "home"? I know that this is where I am suppose to be, even after a year it is sometimes hard to accept. With a sigh, I finally surrendered my card and walked out clutching my temporary paper Mass. license and voter registration. I am officially a Massachusetts resident!
